Work Package 7

Work Package 7: Understanding Role of Young Workers’ Activism

Leading partner: 3s Unternehmensberatung GmbH, Austria

This work package expands on work undertaken in Work Packages 5 and 6 by reviewing new initiatives fighting for fair employment conditions in early career stages and implementing one case study on related initiatives in three countries (Austria, Spain, Slovakia). Young adults are particularly vulnerable in their early career stage before ‘finding their niche’, gaining organizational citizenship and enjoying similar levels of social protection as established workers. Objectives of Work Package 7 are:

  • To deepen the understanding of young persons’ activism for shaping adult learning systems.
  • To gain insight in the drivers for and dynamics of institutional changes with regard to the organisational structuration of early career pathways and its consequences for motivation for and provision of adult learning.
  • To understand the role of activis.ms for young adults’ self-determination, learning motivation and informal learning
  • To observe bottom-up initiatives by young adults as examples of institutional change in adult learning systems and the early structuration of occupational careers in the youth policies and lifelong learning.
