The Council of Ministers of Bulgaria approved the Action Plan for 2018 for the Implementation of the National Strategy for Lifelong Learning (2014-2020) on 1st of August 2018.
The plan foresees additional literacy activities for 10,000 adults over 16 years of age.
In the field of school education and training, the plan foresees 2,000 pupils to raise their awareness of the PISA 2018 International Education Survey, and 5 000 pupils in VI grade to participate in assessment of measurement of their reading literacy. It is also given priority to activities related to decreasing of the share of early school leavers.
1,300 teachers will be involved in training which aims at applying different assessment methods to pupils in the context of PISA 2021.
The main focus of vocational education and training in 2018 will continue to be the link between education, training, learning and labor market needs. More than 1,100 unemployed, mainly young people will be involved in apprenticeships and internships with funding from the state budget. Such opportunities will also be offered by the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development” 2014-2020.
70 classes of dual training will also be realised, as work will implemented towards enhancing the role of the business in dual education.
National Days of lifelong learning will be organised for fourth year. These days aim at making the lifelong learning more popular among all Bulgarian citizens. It is foreseen that 300 participants will take part in these days.
In the Action plan are also involved activities which will be realised based on results from the work of Bulgarian team of the ENLIVEN project. The Bulgarian researchers will take part in the national days and will analyze:
- the way of implementation and the effectiveness of the on-the-job-training of young adults through a study of two specific cases of companies in Bulgaria.
- the national policies in the area of lifelong learning from the perspective of the role of overcoming of social exclusion of vulnerable groups and groups at a disadvantaged position.
- the role of lifelong learning for overcoming of the mismatch between the graduated education and the occupation based on quantitative and qualitative data.
